Frequently asked questions

1 - First time eating sushi - indications

Fried and cooked: Hot Roll, Fried Temaki, Pate Salmon, Salmon Croquette, California, Shrimp Tempura, Rock Roll

2 - Number of pieces per person

16 to 22 pieces

3 - Can I order extra cream cheese?

Yes. There will be an extra $1 per order of sushi.

4 - Can I flambé the pieces?

Yes. There will be an extra $1 per order of sushi.

5 - I don't know the names of the pieces, how can I order them?

Our menu is all pictures. There are combos for 2, 3 and 5 people and they are very varied between raw and fried sushi.

6 - When are there promotions?

Hot Wednesday is the fried food promotion we run every Wednesday.

7 - Do you have a minimum order for uber delivery?

Yes, we deliver orders over $20.

8 - Where do you deliver?

In the Medford area

9 - Can I exchange combo items?

You can make 1 change per combo. For example, take out the sashimi and put in the uramaki instead.
If you want to make more than one change, you can put together your own combo. We can help you with that.

10 - How far in advance should I place my order?

At least 5 hours in advance so that we can reserve a time slot for you.
Unreserved orders will be subject to slot availability.

11 - How far in advance do I need to order a ferry?

Ferries need to be booked, in which case the request must be made one day in advance.
They must be returned one day later. We don't deliver boats, in this case it's just pickup.

12 - Pregnant women and sushi!

Although controversial, the doctor will always have the final say.
But until the first 3 months, we don't recommend raw fish because of the risk of infection or cross-contamination; it's better to opt for fried or boiled fish. It's also possible to flambé the pieces if the baby really wants to eat sushi.
Shrimp is not recommended due to its iodine content.
Some doctors allow sushi at all stages of pregnancy, but it's always important to let us know so that we can pay extra attention to mom's sushi.

13 - Can I eat sushi there?

We don't have a dine-in yet, for now we have delivery and takeout

14 - Can I pay for the delivery in cash?

We don't have our own delivery service, we use Uber, so payment must be made by zelle or venmo.

15 - What is the name of the sushi that is black on the outside?

Hossomaki, it's smaller and has Nori seaweed on the outside.

16 - What is the name of the sushi that is white on the outside?

Uramaki, it's bigger and has the rice on the outside.

17 - What is the name of the one that looks like a fried drumstick?

Temaki, we have fried versions, regular with raw salmon and Supreme with raw salmon and shrimp.

18 - Can I remove some of the ingredients from my sushi?

Yes, we'll make your sushi just the way you like it!

19 - What do you call the sweet sauce?

Teriyaki, ours is pineapple and honey.

20 - Are the sauces sent with the order or do I have to pay extra?

We send teriyaki with the fried sushi, ginger and wasabi for the raw sushi, shoyo sauce and chopsticks for all orders.

21 - Do you have that garter that helps you eat with a chopstick?

Yes, we can send it with your order.

22 - Is there sweet sushi?

Yes. We have a strawberry with nutella and a banana with dulce de leche and cinnamon.

23 - I've finished filling in my loyalty card, now what?

First of all, thank you for your loyalty! We are honored to be part of your table! The first step is to make sure you're already a member of our sushi club. To join, all you have to do is register and you'll even get free sushi on your birthday! To get your free sushi you need to bring in your completed card and then you can choose any of the free temakis (regular, fried or supreme).

24 - My son has a lot of restrictions on the texture of food, can I create a very different kind of sushi?

Yes, we'll be proud to be able to make your children feel free to eat whatever they want, so they can join in at the table for family time! We also have a kids' combo, with sushi made only from rice with goldfish crackers on top. It also comes with a rice bear and two pieces of banana with dulce de leche and nutella.

25 - I'm pregnant, can I eat sushi?

During pregnancy, it is important to be careful with the consumption of raw foods, especially in the first few months. Some doctors recommend avoiding them to reduce the risk of contamination. Here at Yumi, we also offer boiled and fried options, designed for those who prefer more security without giving up flavor.

26 - I don't eat raw fish, is there any option?

Absolutely! We offer rolls with tempura shrimp, fully cooked and fried. The Yumi experience goes beyond the traditional.

27 - What differentiates Brazilian sushi from Japanese sushi?

Brazilian sushi incorporates tropical ingredients, fusion techniques, and colorful presentations. At Yumi, we balance Japanese technique with Brazilian warmth and creativity.

28 - Is the sushi course for beginners?

Yes, in this course we will do all the stages of sushi, from rice to cutting and preparing sushi. Everyone can do it, even without previous experience.
